Weekly Update – 5/3/2016
We’re in Faria Beach Park!
The park lies between the Pacific Ocean and the base of the Santa Ynez mountains along Highway 1 off the Ventura Freeway. The views of the Channel Islands are breathtaking, and are most notable at dusk. Campsites are highly sought after at this small picturesque park, which is footsteps away from the Pacific Ocean.
Progress:
We’ve run 100.2 miles.
We ran 72 miles in the past week.
We have 19.8 miles until Santa Barbara and 494.8 until Sacramento.
If we ran at this pace for 7 weeks we’d be at the capital.
Featured Hike: Bridge to Nowhere
You’ll find excessive fun, not government spending, on this 10-mile round trip hike with 900 feet of elevation gain. There are several river fords on the trail to the abandoned bridge, along with opportunities to stop and swim. Flora and fauna are limitless on the trail, with several sightings of bighorn sheep in recent months The hike is a challenging distance with little elevation gain, so it is the first challenge hike for the Laserfiche Hiking Club this Sunday. You can contact Katie.Gaston@laserfiche.com for more details.
OC Marathon
Congratulations to the Laserfiche Running Club for participating in the OC Marathon. Kurt, Melissa and Steve all ran the half marathon to complete the Beach Cities Challenge (which includes Long Beach and Surf City), and they earned a giant medal, while Alexandria, James, Sarah and Haylee finished the 5k.
